As the next iteration of the WFX Prime, the first FIVE glove featuring heat-sealed seamless construction on the topside so it’s totally waterproof, the WFX Prime Evo GTX takes protection from the cold a step further by using FIVE THERMO+™ construction, an innovative concept in thermal insulation.

Most winter gloves have been made in the same way for ages…To put it simply, with thick, dense thermal insulation on the topside of the hand and a thinner layer on the palm, all the way up to between the fingers. And this is the weak point of this traditional type of construction. The cold ends up getting in through the fourchettes (this is what the zone between the fingers is called). FIVE has redesigned the basic principles of thermal insulation by using a new method of construction we call THERMO+™, which offers up to 20% greater thermal efficiency. The idea is quite simple: the thick insulation on the topside reaches all the way down into the area between the fingers, whereas the thinner insulation is contained within the flat part of the palm and fingers. This means rethinking all the other elements in the glove to preserve the impeccable suppleness of it all, as well as proper grip on the controls.

It’s when you ride in the cold that you can truly understand the benefits of Thermo+™ construction. The thicker and more dense insulation in the fourchettes creates a much more effective heat barrier and helps keep the hand’s natural heat inside the glove for even longer.

The fabrication of this premium winter glove is ultra-modern. The use of cutting-edge technological materials, such as the Soft Shell structure, the GORE-TEX® Grip™ membrane that’s partly bonded to the palm, and Primaloft® Gold ultra-high-performance, water-repellent thermal insulation allowed us to create a glove that’s both waterproof and warm without being too bulky. It offers unparalleled touch sensitivity and exceptional thermal and handling capabilities, which will allow you to face bad weather and the cold without any worries whatsoever.

But, since in winter, the risk of taking a spill is just as high as that of falling temperatures, the WFX Prime Evo GTX features premium protective elements: a FIVE ERGO PROTECH® one-piece shell and a wide panel in SuperFabric®, an ultra-tough fabric that includes epoxy resin microbeads, visible on the thenar eminence and concealed underneath the leather on the hypothenar. Not to mention, and this is new for this EVO version, a soft-TPR protective palm shell in ERGO PROTECH.
