Choosing the right glove size
To help you choose the right FIVE glove size, here's a clear guide to measuring your hand correctly, as well as a few specific tips to help you avoid sizing mistakes.
1/ Materials and preparation
- Take a flexible tape measure (sewing type) or, failing that, a thread/scotch tape, which you can then measure with a ruler.
- Use your dominant hand (the hand you use most) to measure.
- Make sure your hand is relaxed, fingers slightly closed (but not clenched), for a realistic measurement.
2/ Measures to be taken
Here are the two main things you should do:
Turn of hand (circumference)
- Place the ribbon around the palm, at the finger joints (just below the knuckles, not including the thumb) - this is the widest part of the hand.
- Hold the ribbon without compressing it, just lay it comfortably.
- Note the measurement (in centimetres or inches)
Hand length
- Measure from the tip of the middle finger to the base of the palm (where the hand meets the wrist). This measurement will help you determine whether or not your fingers are longer, which can influence the ideal size.
3/ Refer to the FIVE GLOVES size chart
If you're between sizes, in the case of leather or technicalmotorcycle gloves: opting for the larger size may be more comfortable than being too tight (and may be too constricting).

4/ Specific advice
motorcycle gloves like to be snug to maintain feedback, but not too tight as this can impede movement, reduce circulation or tire the hand.
After testing, check that your fingers do not touch the inside of the glove when you close your fist.
The material (leather, textile, lining) will influence this: leather can relax a little after use, so a slight adjustment is better than too much volume.
If the glove has a thick lining or internal protection (shells, inserts), this may slightly reduce the usable space - take this into account.
What you need to know about the fit of FIVE gloves...
Because we don't expect the same fit from a competition glove as we do from a glove designed for everyday city riding, or from a glove designed to keep the hand warm in winter, FIVE builds its gloves around 3 types of cut, with varying degrees of fit.
The glove is fitted as close as possible to the hand for optimum performance and riding precision. It may require a little effort to put on and take off.
The glove offers a standard fit for comfort and convenience when donning and doffing, for optimum riding sensations.
The glove offers a relatively loose fit for comfort and thermal regulation inside the glove.
